Style: Chinese Export Porcelain / Qianlong | Material: Porcelain with openwork, polychrome, and gilded decoration | Dimensions: to be completed | Condition: Very good
An extraordinary and museum-quality piece: a round basket base in Chinese export porcelain, with openwork, polychrome, and gilded decoration, produced during the Qianlong reign (1736–1795). The openwork technique—where the craftsman pierces the fired porcelain to create lace-like patterns—is one of the most demanding in the history of oriental porcelain and one that rarely survives intact over time.
Examples of this type and quality are today extremely difficult to find in the international antique market. The combination of openwork, polychromy, and gilding makes this piece one of the most sophisticated of Qianlong's production for the European market.
Very good condition, remarkable for a piece almost 300 years old. The openwork and decoration are intact.
Unique piece. We ship worldwide—the cost and shipping method are assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best solution for each piece. Contact us for more information.
