"Orange-Pecker" — Vista Alegre Sculptural Group in Polychrome Bisque Porcelain

A prestigious sculptural group in polychrome biscuit porcelain from the Vista Alegre Factory, commercially known as "Orange-Pecker". One of the most sought-after pieces by collectors of Portuguese porcelain.

The work faithfully reproduces, in a naturalistic manner, two exotic birds perched on an orange tree trunk full of detailed fruits and foliage. The main bird has a crest and dark blue plumage, an intense red breast, and open wings; the secondary bird, in shades of green and grey, perches on a lower branch. Both have applied glass eyes of great realism and each feather individually crafted.
