Description
We present a superb showpiece from the British Victorian era, manufactured by the iconic Mason's Patent Ironstone China around 1840.
This model embodies the brand's mastery in creating transferware pottery inspired by oriental export porcelain. The bulbous body displays the "Double Landscape" pattern, characterized by an enveloping representation of Asian landscapes with stylized trees, pagodas, and bridges, executed underglaze in a rich palette of ocher tones, iron orange, gray, and cobalt blue accents.
The wide mouth is framed by a beautiful decorative band, inside and out, with chrysanthemums and white daisies on a textured background. Its elevated anatomical handle stands out, featuring a textured thumb spur and ending in an elegant flourish. A striking piece with the robustness and vitreous brilliance typical of original Patent Ironstone.
