A unique and absolutely rare piece of 19th-century Portuguese porcelain: a toothpick holder from Vista Alegre in moulded and embossed porcelain, depicting a couple in traditional attire during the grape harvest – one of the most emblematic moments of Portuguese rural culture.

Dating from around 1870–1880, it belongs to one of Vista Alegre's most creative and collected phases. Toothpick holders from this period and in this state of preservation are extremely difficult to find on the antique market.
