A traditional Portuguese piece, known regionally as a "trauliteira," this molded glass jug is a rare example of 19th-century glassmaking, likely originating from the workshops of Marinha Grande, the historical center of glassmaking in Portugal.
The domed body and scalloped rim give it an elegant and functional silhouette. Resting on three faceted feet, the base offers stability and a sculptural touch. The embossed decoration with shell motifs reveals a naturalistic influence, typical of 19th-century decorative taste. The side handle, molded with detail and fluidity, completes the composition with balance and sophistication.
