Rare commemorative plate in Vista Alegre porcelain, produced in 1894 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Prince Henry the Navigator (1394-1894), a central figure in the Portuguese Discoveries.
The plate features a portrait of Prince Henry the Navigator in the center with the inscription "1394 TALENT DE BIEN FAIRE 1894" (Talent for Doing Good), flanked by the coat of arms of Portugal and a caravel, symbols of the Age of Discoveries. At the bottom, the inscription "INFANTE D. HENRIQUE" completes the tribute.
Produced by the Vista Alegre manufactory, as attested by the mark on the reverse, this plate represents a historical piece of great commemorative and patriotic value. The gold rim adds further elegance to this collector's item.
An authentic piece of Portuguese history, ideal for collectors of Vista Alegre porcelain and memorabilia from the Age of Discoveries.
