A fine and unusual sculpture in creamy-toned Shoushan soapstone, representing Guanyin, seated in a serene attitude, holding a ruyi scepter amidst flowing robes adorned with beads. Beside her, a young Foo dog awaits attention, in a symbolic composition of protection and compassion. The goddess's hairstyle is elaborate, with high curls and thick, intertwined strands.
